Turning her Oxford home into a three roomed B&B has amalgamated all of owner Tessa's skills and previous work experience including running a catering business. Her glowing TripAdvisor reviews highlighting her delicious home baking, spacious clean rooms and a warm, friendly welcome have helped to propel Number 36 B&B into the top ranking B&B in Oxford. "You really do have to like people and be prepared to take each guest as an individual" says Tessa.
"I would highly recommend (freetobook), so easy and simple to use and a friendly person on the end of a call if I run into difficulties"
Tucked away on a quiet street in the up-market N. Oxford area of Summertown, Number 36 B&B is ideally located for both tourists and academics/researchers visiting the university. "Year-round we have guests from all over the globe; this morning we had an American couple, an English couple and a businessman from Japan. The conversation over breakfast covered current US politics and the restaurant scene in Tokyo. Fascinating!"
"One night stays are my bread and butter but we encourage longer stays by offering discounts. An Australian researcher stayed here for 19 nights recently."
Tessa, like many of our freetobook property owners, runs her B&B as a one-person operation in charge of everything including accounting and digital marketing. At the start of her venture, Tessa signed herself up for one of the Bed and Breakfast Academy's weekend courses, run out of Hopton House (also freetobook subscribers).
"This is when I first learnt about freetobook's online room booking software. I would highly recommend it, so easy and simple to use and a friendly person on the end of a call if I run into difficulties."
