Chris ran a successful catering operation before she and partner Ken decided to renovate their 1952 property to turn it into a B&B. They opened the doors to guests only in September of last year so six months into this business venture, Chris is happy to report that things are doing really well."My parents have a small rural farm and they loved running their B&B as a side-line. They made so many lovely friends over the years! For us it's the lifestyle we like, certainly its hard work but there is no daily commute and we get to meet people from all walks of life."
"Freetobook is brilliant! I now also use the channel manager with booking.com and the managed connection with Expedia...."
"It was with some online research I first came across freetobook. TripAdvisor had announced Millgate B&B in Massham as the Worlds Best B&B and when I saw they used freetobook as their internet booking engine I decided to check it out for myself. Freetobook is brilliant! I now also use the channel manager with booking.com and the managed connection with Expedia. Most of our guests are from the UK but we have had some from visitors from Switzerland and also Germany through these channels."
"We are lucky with our location as we have no immediate neighbours and are surrounded by fields but its only three minutes drive to Junction 35 on the M6. The Lakes are only half an hour away by car and we can be in Manchester in around one hour."
"The stately house Leighton Hall is a gorgeous wedding venue and we happen to be the closest B&B. I regularly provide home-made baking for their coach parties and large groups of visitors so in return, the owner generously offered to put my B&B details on their website. This area is also well-known in the 'twitching world' as being a great spot for bird-watching, in fact the BBC filmed a couple of seasons of Autumn Watch around here."
Chris' gorgeous home baking feature strongly in this B&B's great reviews. Depending on what time guests arrive they can expect fresh morning scones or afternoon cake as well as the heart shaped shortbread biscuits in the rooms. "I'm farmer's daughter so no-one ever leaves my table hungry!" jokes Chris.
