"The only things that needed attention were , the fridge could do with a good clean and some of the uprights in the fencing outside are loose , but nothing major . "

"The Haybarn pub onsite is ok but the foods limited and not great, the Mortal Man in Troutbeck is expensive for the food you receive , and the Queens head just up the road is lovely but you do need to book as it is difficult to get a table. Most places all around are dog friendly ! Which is great . "

"The lodge was equipped with everything you could possibly need. With a dog we particularly liked the utility room as you entered for boots, towels etc. The information pack was extremely useful. The weather was wet and windy so it was lovely to return to a warm lodge with added bonus of a bath.The booking process was easy and friendly. In fact everything was perfect and we will definitely return. The reason we gave a 3 for cleanliness was we had to clean both grill pans and oven as there was used fat in both and crumbs on work surfaces which was a shame as the rest was spotless. "

Tip:
"The walk from Troutbeck to Ambleside via Robin Lane is very dog friendly as it is all fenced off from sheep enabling your dog to have a good run.The Haybarn is very welcoming and the staff lovely but unfortunately the food was poor. We would advise walking to the Mortal Man or Queens Head to eat. The fenced off field for dogs on site is a welcome bonus. The staff in Reception and shop are extremely friendly and helpful. "
