"The greyhound inn just down the lane offered a friendly service and the food was very nice ,huge proportions . Both the grill and the restaurant meals at Armathwaite hall hotel were superb , pricey but well worth the expense. Friendly staff . Both places made our weekend very enjoyable."

"This was a long awaited return to one of our favourites. Our son is now grown up and looked after the dog at home haha the lodge is beautiful, a real home from home with the added luxury of a beautiful large hot tub to ease the muscle aches of a good day of walking. Spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need. Lovely to meet Stanley as well x can’t wait for our return which will be much sooner this time x "

Tip:
"The cafe with the Orient Express train is well worth a visit just next to Bassenthwaite Lake. We had a steep but lovely walk up Dodd Summit, the view is breathtaking and well worth the effort. You may catch a sighting of an Osprey.
Cockermouth and Keswick are both fab towns full of cafes and nice shops if you need a break from walking.
My fave is Buttermere and Sykes Farm cafe there is stunning, the goodies on offer are delicious and luxurious. Lovely after the 4 mile walk round. "
