"May is a consummate hostess and her guest home is/was a welcome respite after a long journey to Orkney. The west-facing view from room 6 is picturesque - really, stunning. Breakfast consists of at least 5 hot/cold options, prepared fresh, plus an afternoon tray bake left in the room. The home is spacious and rooms separate from the central common area - really nice layout. Highly recommend!"

Tip:
"There is so much to see and do on just Orkney mainland, but also consider a day trip on the ferry to Rousey. Martin Douglas runs a full, one-day tour of the island - Rousay Tours. The Brig Larder in Kirkwall has a good variety of food/gift items for a picnic lunch. Check tide times carefully for the Brough of Birsay - a lot of variation online...important."

"May’s home is spotlessly clean, the white bed linen crisp and fresh, her breakfasts perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. She has thought of everything for her guests’ comfort and her attention to detail is second to none. The views over the Bay of Ireland and the clean sea air are a gift in themselves.
May is the perfect hostess, nothing is too much trouble to her. She is invariably welcoming, friendly and cheerful, a really lovely person. Our third stay at Button-Ben. "

Tip:
"The Foveran Restaurant has great views and excellent food.
The Storehouse in Kirkwall was very good too.
The Ferry Inn, Stromness, is popular for pub food.
"

"This place is in a rural area which may not suit everyone but for me it was so nice. The host emailed helpful advice about booking local attractions before I arrived. This allowed me to ensure I didn't miss out.One of the best B & B stays I have had. The hostess was so helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone."

Tip:
"The host will help with bookings for meals. It is about 10 minutes drive to Stromness should you want to travel to eat."
