"Annie’s Place at Palace Birsay was perfect for us. A short walk through the garden area brings you to a beautiful view overlooking Birsay Bay and the Brough of Birsay. It is a self catering comfortable and warm apartment. The owners, Anne & Robin, welcomed us when we arrived - a lovely couple. They are very helpful, knowledgeable, approachable and friendly.
The 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom (you need to step into the bath to have a shower), kitchen and lounge room was spacious enough for the two of us. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. A straight forward oven with electric glass top hot plates, microwave oven, dishwasher, 2 in 1 washing machine/dryer, mini fridge plus much more. An appliance information folder is available.
There are books and information brochures in the lounge room to read. TV and DVD player available. Very tastefully decorated.
We felt quite at home whilst staying here.
Free parking is available across the road from the apartment.
Highly recommend for a peaceful break. We would have loved to have stayed for longer ❤️"

"Absolutely loved staying at Annie's place - just the type of quieter location we were looking for whilst still being only a short drive from many attractions. Warm and comfortable both for us and for our West Highland Terrier who loved the nearby walks. Friendly and approachable hosts as well !"

Tip:
"Kirkwall hotel and the cafe at the Orkney brewery both excellent dog friendly food options. Would definitely recommend goign to some of the other islands - the ferry to Rousay was only a short drive away and Sanday was gorgeous"

So glad Annie’s Place was warm and comfortable. Also that it is in the quieter location you had wanted, yet you were able to drive to attractions, including talking ferries to Rousay and Sanday. We recommend these trips too. We are indeed in a great location for accessing walks from the house. Thank you for recommending us with 5 star ratings and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Tip:
"Visited all the neolithic sites as members of historic Scotland. Deerness Distillery is worth a visit, cafe is good. The Gloup and Covenanters memorial nearby too. Plenty to see and do to keep you going for a week or two. "

"Annie's Place is a lovely, comfortable place to stay. It's very well-equipped with a dishwasher, washer etc. and Anne and Robin are lovely hosts. We would happily return."

Tip:
"Annie's Place is very handy for visits to the Brough of Birsay (depending on the tides), and the Earl's Palace. There's also a lovely tearoom just up the road. Lovely views, seals on the beach, great walks."

Everything needed for serious cooking is provided in the kitchen, the beds and pillows are super-comfy and the location superb. The sea is right at the end of the garden and the village itself so picturesque. There are many fabulous walks available without even getting in to a car and the hosts are happy to help whenever needed. I heartily recommend it."

Thank you so much for recommending Annie's Place and its location, and for writing such a positive and helpful review. I am glad you found Annie's Place to be a lovely flat, that we had provided all you needed in the kitchen and that the beds and pillows were comfy. ...very important for a good night's sleep after all the fresh air! We try to provide for our guests all that we ourselves would want on a self- catering holiday. We also love our location on the shoreline to sit and relax, with easy access to walks from the front door. It was great that you saw some good sunsets from our shoreline seats!
