"We stayed in the stables (for 6 people), in April ’25. The cottage is in a beautiful location, great cottage with all the amenities you may need, including microwave, washing machine, 2 shower rooms etc. Apart from the very early check out time (9.30 am) and late check-in time (4 pm), all else is great. "

Tip:
"Please be aware that you’ll need to remove your own bedding, take out your rubbish (bins) and do the dishes before vacating the property. If you are happy with this, you’ll be fine, but allocate time to do this. (You’ll be sent an email nearer your stay with these details). "

"Beautiful accommodation in the perfect location on the edge of Castleton, with the village shops and pubs just a couple of minutes walk away.

The accommodation has been nicely done so that the historic features of the old buildings have been maintained. The underfloor heating kept the building nicely warm in the chilly evenings. The kitchen is fairly well stocked with crockery and utensils, although lacking in baking trays if cooking in, and the mugs are rather small! The only other suggestion we have is that secondary curtains on the bedroom windows would be a good idea, as with the windows open the shutters cannot be closed as the window latches get in the way.

John was very welcoming and kept us informed with all the details of our stay. We will definitely look to book with you again if (when!) we're back in the area. "

Tip:
"The location is perfect for walks from the door. Mam Tor and Cave Dale are both beautiful walks and our kids (5 & 8) managed both of these with a bit of encouragement. Treak Cliff Cavern was brilliant , the self guided approach meant we could explore the caves at our own pace, the staff were so friendly and we got to polish up our own bit of Blue John stone each to keep. Peveril Castle was a good activity to fill a half day and had amazing views up Cave Dale and out over the village and surrounding valley.

All the pubs we visited - The Bull, The George and The Old Cheshire Cheese - were decent with good selections of beer and food, and staff were welcoming and attentive. The Three Roofs Cafe was amazing for both breakfast, lunch and takeaway, the milkshakes and the roast dinner cobs being highlights. The two convenience stores in the village only have a limited selection, so don't bank on being able to buy everything you need to cook a meal. "
