"We have stopped here many times. It is a great location for exploring the North York Moors and the wolds. Scarborough Filey and Whitby are all within easy reach. The bus services are generally excellent but a car is required to reach them and they do not run late in the day. "

Tip:
"Thornton Dale (about 3 miles away) and the Anvil Inn (for a meal, closed Mon and Tues) at Sawdon are worth a visit."

"Another lovely week spent in Dove cottage at Rains Farm. Comfortable accommodation for 2 people and everything you would need. This was our 4th stay here and we never tire of observing the birds and wildlife that populate the field that can be observed from the cottage's main window. This year we were treated to a visit from the fields resident hare as well as a nightly flypast from a barn owl. As ever Lorraine and Andy were great hosts,always on hand when needed. We will undoubtedly be back."

Tip:
"We visited Eden Camp, a museum near Malton based in a former POW camp from WW2. For anyone interested in the history of that war this place is a must. York is also a great place to visit with it's Minster and the railway museum. Use the park and ride and for those with a concessionary bus pass a discounted fare is available, great value. "

"This is my 3rd or 4th stay at Rains Farm and I plan to book again. The cottage is spotless clean. Lorraine is so welcoming and always there if you have a question. Beautiful garden, peace and quiet location and only a short drive to local villages. "

Tip:
"Spoiled for choice, lots of good quality meals and home baking at. Cedar Barn Restaurant and a goid farm shop for self catering. Botham’s in Pickering, Stained Glass cafe has beautiful gardens. Also Tranquility Gardens is our new discovery. The Whole Hog is another. "
