"The Smithy is a typical village local- friendly and welcoming.
I have family in Holme and have known it for years so difficult to view as a tourist, but the walks from the village along the canal and up Farleton Knott are true Lake District walks but without the crowds."

"Wonderful hospitality. It was like home away from home. I came from far off India and never for a moment felt that I am in unknown land with unknown people. I went as a guest and came back as a friend as they promised on their website. "

"Don't forget to ask Vic about things to see in lake District. He is a treasure trove of information. Eat at Fellini's restaurant at Ambleside. And if interested please do visit Fairfield Mill to meet and chat with local artists and to purchase some amazing stuff. "
