"We had a fantastic stay at the Trout Fly. Before we even arrived, we received some helpful e-mails to prepare for our stay on Islay. The room was lovely, very clean and cosy. Niall and his family made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was great as well. The location was wonderful, close to the Ferry Terminal, a bus stop, two shops/super markets and all sorts of other places of interest. "

Tip:
"We tried all three restaurants available in Port Ellen at the time (SeaSalt Bistro, Ellen's Wok and The Balaclava Byre), all three of which are really good at what they do. The Wildlife tour with Islay sea adventures was wonderful. We rented E-bikes at Islay E-Wheels which was a great way to explore the island. We did a tasting at Lagavulin and a tasting + tour at Bunnahabhain, both of which were lovely. We also spent an afternoon taking a taxi up to the Mull of Oa and doing the circular walk there, which was beautiful and a nice way to explore a lesser visited part of the island. "

"Absolut empfehlenswert, auch wegen der örtlichen Nähe zum Fährhafen, mit guten Parkmöglichkeiten. Man darf im Frühstücksraum abends auch mitgebrachte Speisen vom Take-away verzehren (Neill: "We help, where we can."), wenn man nicht jeden Abend ins Restaurant gehen möchte. Hervorragendes schottisches Frühstück, hervorragende Fruchtwaffel als Alternative. - Sehr gerne wieder!"

Tip:
"Unbedingt zum American Monument/Mull of Oa fahren und zum Kildalton Cross, wenn die Zeit reicht. Loch Finlaggan und Loch Gruinart sind auch sehensenswert. Destillerieführungen unbedingt frühzeitig buchen. Das gilt umso mehr für die Fähre, wenn das Auto mit soll. Nettes Restaurant in Bowmore: die dortige "Peatzeria" (vorher reservieren!)."
