"This is a lovely quiet campsite. It has a beautiful walk along the riverside where you can see herons, swans, kingfishers and if you very lucky otters. It has a lovely cafe although I think they could have more range on their menu. I am looking forward to going back. "

"Just enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the abbey, respect others and please don’t let your children climb all over the abbey as this could cause damage and also they could have an accident. "

"Fantastic location parked next to the ruins what a view to wake up to. Cross the bridge and you can walk along the river. Very quiet site lots of space between and fairly level. "

"Take your walking boots and a good camera!"

"Lovely quiet site, about a 4 mile walk into Durham which is a lovely walk, (once you get past the prison!)
Will definitely come again."

Tip:
"Some of the pitches are not very level, but they do provide chocs. If my memory serves me right the more level pitches are B, F and H. Toilet block is closed for cleaning 10.30 - 11.30 but there are alternative loos near the entrance.
Closest pub is about 40 mins walk, but site is so peaceful and nice there’s no need to go.
Big out of town shopping centre with the biggest sainsburys ever a short drive away."
