"We stayed for a couple of nights as I was undertaking the Great North Run. What can I say other than what a jewel of a site you have. The amenities were spotless the grounds beautifully maintained. Staff helpfulness second to none. We will obviously be looking to stay again. Thank you

Access to Newcastle and South Shields was ideal with the great road network. The local pubs were great too."

15th September 2026:
"One day when i was six or seven, agroup of us aged between six and twelve. Must of been ten or more of us, we lived in houghton, decided to walk to finchale abbey, setting off at 9.00 in the morning. Took us about two hiurs to get there, across the fields, through farms ect, no motorway then. When you go dowm the steps, after having visited the shop on the corner for free water. Whe you get to the bridge we would go right, its all cllosed off now prob, due to rock falls. When your about half a mile along there right opposite the campsite, we used to make a swing and go skinny dipping..
Today having visited the campsite in preperastion in my new camper, how impressed i was with the facilities, adults only , which is a good thing for peace and quite. .
Having visited the changing shower toilet block numerous times how impressive and clean it was. Thanks to Kev the Ceanliness Officer. ( you need a gratuity box installing m8). The site was amzingly clean apart frim one very unhealthy person who decided that picking up there dog poo was beneath them on the entrance to the campsite. .
The staff are very homely and welcome
. And i will be bring my camper back for furthur quick visits.

"Take your time, take it all in. Dont go skinny dipping, not allowed these days. We were sixties kids . No worries apart from getting a good hiding when you got home. After a day of adventure. It was worth it. Have fun . Tommorow may never come. X"
