"A wonderful base for our holiday in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. The cottage was perfect for us. "

Tip:
"The Sunday roast at the Crown and Cushion in nearby Welburn was outstanding.
Time exploring Castle Howard, both the grounds (paid entry) and the free circular around it, is well spent. Combine the trip by going a little further to Malton, the “Good capital of Yorkshire”!
Catch the park and ride into York to explore the cobbled streets and city walls. We had lunch and picked up delicious authentic sourdough and scones at Brancusi (same menu available next door at Partisan). The Perky Peacock is worth a visit for the atmosphere although the menu is now limited compared to what we saw online. "

"Outside heat pump very noisy kept us awake on our first night but strangely not a sound on our 2nd night A fence to separate the driveway from the cottage would have been better to keep the dogs ..."

Tip:
"Crown and cushion for a meal
Castle Howard dog friendly
Helmsley lovely village and walk around Dunscombe house grounds with lots of lovely tearooms
Near to Kilburn for walks to the white horse and gliding club
Generally a good base for areas around North Yorkshire
"
