"Traveling from France to one end of Earth to be greeted by the nicest couple there is, was a great experience.
Anne and Robin were the perfect hosts in the perfect house. We could have stayed longer just to get to know them better.
If you visit Orkney, stay at Annie's Place, you wont regret it ! "

It was a real pleasure for us to know how much you were enjoying your stay and so appreciating Orkney's archaeology, history and scenery. It was such a bonus that you saw the Northern Lights. You are correct that we get a wonderful viewing of them including above Birsay Bay and the Brough.

Tip:
"Every brochure and information leaflet that you could possibly need for a visit to Orkney is in the house. Must visits are the nearby working mill, and the farm museum at Kirbuster.
Other than that, just enjoy the lovely coastal walks to Marwick Head, and across to the Broch.
A highlight for us was a trip across to Rousay. Fantastic views and some fascinating cairns."

"Anne and Robin were extremely welcoming and gave us lots of useful information about the locality and further afield.
The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The location was perfect for us with access to coastal walks at the end of the garden, a village shop next door, several places of interest within just a few miles and close to several archaeological sites."

Tip:
"We stayed for a week and found there was more than enough to see and do on the mainland so we never found a need to visit any of the other islands. Would highly recommend visiting the Brough of Birsay, the Barony Mill (we walked there from Annie’s Place; excellent guided tour) and Kirbuster Farm (with its lit peat fire in centre of the house)."

"This was my seventh stay at Annie’s Place. It is bascially my Orkney home and Anne and Robin are my Orkney family. They are so wonderful and I love not only spending time at Annie’s Place but spending time with them. But if that isn’t your thing, they will not bother you. "

Tip:
"If you stay at Annie’s Place you need to rent a car because it is literally on the edge of Mainland (the main island), but it is worth it for the accommodation (clean, all the appliances you need (dishwasher, washer/dryer, double oven, stovetop, microwave, french press and more) and mostly the views. You have plenty of walks just outside your door. Also, the Palace Stores is right next door for supplies (not full groceries - grab those when in Kirkwall before heading to Birsay) and a daily dose of ice cream. If you are coming to Orkney, you probably know all the things there are to see. If not, Anne and Robin have lots of material in the flat to help you out. and if the weather gets really bad, I have left you a puzzle to work on."
