Once again a fabulous stay. Great staff, lovely dog friendly rooms and good food. Our room ( no 14) was even better than the one we stayed in before as we preferred the style and the walk in shower and bath was wonderful.

Our stay in Buttermere and at the Bridge Hotel was a highlight of our trip to the UK. The Bridge Hotel has a traditional charm throughout which blends with its surrounds. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and bedding is very comfortable. Both of our rooms had scenic views of the mountains. The breakfast room was lovely and breakfast was good with plenty of choice - staff were happy to accomodate requests. The lounge room was also a cosy place to spend time. We could not have been made to feel more welcome and nothing was too much trouble - the service was consistently five star service from all the staff. A minor suggestion - a couple of lighter, healthier meals could be included in the restaurant dinner menu. We look forward to returning to the Bridge Hotel - definitely a favourite place to stay. Thank you to all the staff.

Tips for other travellers
Buttermere is a remarkably beautiful, remote location with a regular bus service. From the Bridge Hotel, shorter and longer hikes around the lakes and up the mountains are easily accessible. We relied on public transport and were happy we had done so as it was preferable to driving in the Lakes District where there was often only room for one car to pass. Right next to the Bridge Hotel is the Croft Tea Rooms for coffee, scones etc and very close by is the Sykes Farm Cafe which has a good range of food. Buttermere is a great base for hiking or simply slowing down and immersing oneself in nature.

We were very happy with our stay. Comfortable and quiet with the lovely sound of the stream outside. It was very nice to go through to the bar and also to use the hotel lounge. The only thing I would change is some aspects of the food although I acknowledge I am probably just fussy. Fruit at breakfast and more vegetables with the pub meals would be good. We liked the staff very much. The man with the long pony tail was friendly and helpful.

Wonderful walk up scale force and across red pike and high stile. Also Haystacks as a good starter mountain. Swimming in the Lake. Crummock water and lesser known loweswater are gorgeous.
