The walls were a little thin so you could hear other guests talking but otherwise it was a lovely stay.

Glen Torridon and Beinn Eighe National Nature reserve are superb. The drive down the A896 Glen Torridon road to Torridon village is absolutely superb especially on a sunny day. There is a lovely cafe in Torridon and one can drive on to Low Diabaig a high narrow road with superb views over Loch Torridon. This whole area is brilliant. Inverewe garden is more than worth a visit. It’s a National Trust for Scotland garden, but one can use their England Nation Trust membership to get in. One. An always drive around the coast, the bays are massive and look deserted, on a sunny day it like this side of heaven especially if you can handle the solitude. Just have fun.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect having read all the polarising and often negative views of this hotel but I was really pleasantly surprised. The location and views are exceptional. We had the four poster room with a stunning view which you can enjoy from chairs overlooking the lake or the bed. We were able to have a nice drink on the tables and chairs outside in their garden too and then had dinner in the dining room which again overlooks the lake. I was worried about the food given reviews but we had a really tasty and filling burger for £16.50 which felt reasonable to me! Breakfast was a full Scottish breakfast which was really tasty and they had other options like eggs Benedict or florentine. No cereals but honestly you didn’t need it! Staff was all really friendly and service was quick. It is perhaps a little faded in places and you can see the building was at one time v grand but obviously must be costly to maintain given its location and age. But generally I thought it was well presented. So to me the price seemed very reasonable given its location. This is a remote place where accommodation IS expensive and very hard to come by so I just think people need to set expectations accordingly.
