Excellent site. Put 4 for staff service and facilities because it’s September and assuming minimum staffing and other facilities . But independent Abbey cafe is open daily. It’s a beautiful site, with nice scenery- very quiet and the backdrop of the Abbey is very atmospheric.

The site is 4/5 miles away from Durham and a mile to the nearest bus stop. So if not got a car, taxis are readily available , approx £12 per journey into Durham city.

Most pitches need chocks as it’s in the grounds of the priory and further groundwork is not allowed. There are, however, some chocks available to borrow.

A lovely site…dog walks were good. The ducks were a positive extra.
Having the Abbey on site was not only picturesque but informative and the river was beautiful.
We really liked this site and would gladly return
