When approaching the site, Jeep the faith! The road says Private Road and they made me worry about proceeding..... ignite the private road notification!

Very well kept campsite. The lawns are immaculate and spaces between pitches are good. At different times of the day/evening a warden drives around the site in a golf buggy checking all is well.

A lovely quiet well kept site for adults only. Beautiful river, Abbey ruins and a shop/cafe are on the site. Spacious pitches. We drove to Beamish Outdoor Museum a few times, about 25 minutes away. To go to Durham we used the park and ride at Sniperley for our motorhome - very easy to drive to and park up. Free to park and used our OAP's bus pass. Buses every 15 minutes, last bus from Durham around 6.30pm but do check on-line. Excellent service. The nearest pub is nearly 2 miles away from site. We hope to visit again.
