We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay at the park. Grounds were very well kept, the immediate surroundings are beautiful and the staff were very pleasant. Facilities were well maintained and clean. The short walking loop in the local wood was very pleasant and the abbey itself was very interesting to look around.

Tips for other travellers
Levelling blocks definitely required for some pitches, as mentioned on the website. The 4 mile walk into Durham is very pleasant - the hardest bit is the short climb out of the campsite!

Owner Response

Thank you Jonathan for your review. It is under 2 miles to walk to Durham city it’s just over four in the car just to clarify for other’s. It is a beautiful walk along a good path for cycling or walking passing lakes full of wildlife Thank you Ann.

Very well kept ,lovely peaceful historic location, central to other attractions in Durham. We didn’t meet the staff so haven’t given many stars, apart from maintenance man mowing grass. We will definitely return next time we visit lovely Durham.

We stayed in May and it was quiet only a few vans - we enjoyed our two nights.
