A lovely walk into Durham on the public footpath to the RHS of Franklin Prison. Taxi back around £14 or public bus, check timetable as no service on a Sunday.

Our 6th visit recently to this gem of a sight. We may live very near but love the peace and tranquility. All staff are so kind and helpful and a credit to owner Ann and family. Looking forward to our next visir soon!

Try trout fishing in the River Wear and marvel at the amazing abbey and history of St. Godrick. Top tip... look up Finchale Abbey on Youtube and see how it looked in the reconstruction.
