Rooms were clean, roomy and very comfortable. Owners were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast was great -- full menu, lots of choices. The grilled tomato was a hit with some of us. Quiet neighborhood.

Note that central Kirkwall is about a 20-minute walk from the Guest House, or an easy bus or car drive. We travelled by bus to Skara Brae and to Stromness -- it was very convenient.

We love our stays at Karrawa! Fyona is the most perfect host. She is friendly, warm and caring and nothing is too much trouble. She has an excellent knowledge of the area and is able to offer ideas and suggestions of places to see and visit. Karrawa is comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are simply the best and all cooked to perfection. The porridge is fabulous! All in all this is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Orkney Isles and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Hoy - we love the trip down to Rackwick Bay. The Beneth’ill Cafe is a fabulous stop off for food and drinks. Also the Scapa Flow Museum. Tomb of the Eagles at South Ronaldsay is good too. The Italian Chapel, Scara Brae, Ring of Brodgar. In fact, there’s lots of see and do. The Barrier Cafe is also excellent for food and drinks.
