Jackie is the owner, she could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Her daily cakes were the best I’ve ever had and the breakfast is amazing. The produce is local too. The room was comfortable spotless and warm. Toiletries are provided from a local business. Jackie is happy to chat and genuinely interested in her guests. We broke down and she was happy to get help from two friendly local gentlemen who managed to get us moving.

Tips for other travellers

Jackie told us we would get a discount at the two local pub restaurants- the mortal man and the queen’s head. Troutbeck is a beautiful place for walking, we’d recommend that and the lovely tea room at the former post office . Ambleside and Windermere are not far if you prefer to wander around the towns. But Troutbeck is so peaceful and beautiful I’d recommend exploring all the walks and mountains there.

When travelling on busy holiday weekends, book dinners in advance Take advantage of all the incredible walking in the area & Jackie’s amazing resource library If you like a cycling adventure, Ullswater Bikes has e-bikes and on/off road routes whatever your appetite

We felt very welcome, the room was spacious and comfortable, the location is perfect, the breakfast was excellent, we are really grateful for the three nights at your place.

Idyllic location, everything on your doorstep. The guest house was superb and Jackie our host was brilliant. Definitely going back.
