Such welcoming hosts! Hostel was immaculately clean with an amazingly resourced kitchen. The drying room is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and all our soggy kit was dry by morning. So many thoughtful touches in the hostel, such as privacy curtains, little storage bags on the top bunks for essentials and a personal light for every bed. We had a lovely time relaxing after a big day cycling.

The hostel is closed from 10am to 4pm everyday. There are a few things in the village, like a small shop which stocks basics and a hotel where you can get a meal. If you need a “big” shop it would be worth doing it in a slightly larger village before you get there.

We're really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The privacy curtains in the dormitory room are a new feature so it's good to hear that they are a hit. In terms of food, Invergarry is a small village with a population of only 300. The village shop is part of the filling station. It's not badly stocked considering the size of our community but it isn't a supermarket. There is a small supermarket in Fort Augustus, a Spar shop in Spean Bridge and of course several supermarkets in Fort William, so if stocking up on provisions is feasible before coming here then we would recommend it. The hostel itself has a large and well equipped self catering kitchen. Guests can also eat out at The Invergarry Hotel, which is a 10 minute walk away.

The hostel was really lovely and clean. The hosts were very kind and served home-made bread with the breakfast. It was a quiet hostel which I appreciated a lot after a long day of walking. The common area was spacious with comfy couches. Would stay here again :)

Thanks for the positive comments. We're glad that you found the hostel quiet as we were actually fully booked on the night you stayed (over the Easter weekend). It's fair to say we are not a party hostel! We enjoyed speaking with you and finding out the places we had both visited. We hope that the rest of the Great Glen Way walk went well.

The Saddle Mountain Hostel in Invergarry is a great hostel in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Helen and Greg, the owners, extend a warm welcome and maintain exceptional cleanliness throughout the hostel. Stayed for four nights exploring the Munros and Corbetts around Knoydart and Kintail and will surely be back.
