We have recently enjoyed our third stay in Cottage No. 2 at Ashfield Cottages and we very much appreciate the warm welcome on arrival from Carol and Simon who are extremely friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of the area, therefore able to provide great ideas for places to visit.

Tips for other travellers

Our top recommendations would be: Goathland, Thornton le Dale, Hutton le Hole and Duncombe Hall. All of which have very nice restaurants and tea shops. Dalby Forest is perfect for a long leisurely walk with a variety of places within the forest to visit. Take a good pair of walking shoes! Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay all fabulous for sunsets as is the open wilderness of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Wonderfully clean cottage which is much appreciated! Every attention to detail made which made for a comfortable stay and lovely to come back to after a busy day out exploring the local and not so local attractions of this stunning area! Everything you could possibly need was provided !

The cottage was in an ideal location to visit Pickering, Thornton- le - dale, Whitby, Scarborough and even further afield ! The sitting rooms are so sunny and peaceful with a lovely garden to sit in that you could happily spend the day relaxing there!

Tips for other travellers

Walk round the Hole of Horcum, for the active. Super Tea-room in village for the sedentary! Lots of lovely walks in the country-side.
