This was a wonderful, isolated place to stay. We were so keen to get away from it all during this difficult time and Kielder was the ideal place to do so. The scenery was fantastic, we even had one night of clear skies which was really lucky at that time of year. Staff were super friendly, very helpful and had plenty of tips on what to do, where to go and how to keep the midges at bay. We'll be back.

Tips for other travellers
Believe them when they say this place is isolated! Bring your food with you - really. The nearest shop is a serious drive away, so you'll need to bring what you need. We tried the waffle place at the visitors centre and that was well worth it, as well as the pop-up-cafe at the castle. We did find that the shop at the water-centre just down the road had a couple of vital provisions such as milk and bread, but you're better off making sure you bring it yourself. Also, make use of the village-run petrol station when you are there as it is putting money back into the local area - just be aware that it isn't 24hours. What a lovely place, you should visit!
