Friendly and fabulously equipped place with facilities suiting differing needs. Accommodation perfect for the wheelchair user in our party. Loads of lovely places to visit in surrounding area with good guidance on accessibility.

We had a brilliant holiday at South Newlands Cottages. Copper Cottage is very accessible with the ceiling track hoist, profiling bed and wet room and daughter loved being able to have a bath using the mobile hoist. Rod, Peggy and Neville are so helpful and on hand for recommendations etc. Weather was lovely when we were there, and the garden furniture was very well used and a welcome addition.

Tips for other travellers

Howden is lovely and only a 20 minute drive away, beautiful church, very clean change-place there too and a nice bakery. For a walk by the canal (and thanks to recommendation from Peggy Rod and Neville) park at Burn Bridge car park, it’s a flattish walk. We did about 20 minutes then turned back but you’re right by the water and it’s lovely. Market Weighton is beautiful with a lovely church and very welcoming congregation and Selby Abbey is just stunning. For bird watching North Duffield Carrs nature reserve is great, but this is not really accessible for wheelchairs because of the fields and hills.
