The Bridge will always be one of our favourite places to stay. Even if we aren't staying with you we always visit the pub when in the lake district for food. The 2 bedroom apartments are our favourite but we have also stayed in the hotel for a quick overnight stay. Short breaks are best for us so it's usually Nov - March when we treat ourselves to a steady in the apartments. Also Buttermere is quieter then too. Perfect.

Look out for short stays in the apartments in the "off" season Nov to March Have at least one steak pie and chips, if not every day! Same goes for the scone and cream, and the sticky toffee pudding. Sit in the residents lounge and read all the walkers reports from across the years Plenty of walks from the door so no need to move the car. Check out the honister rambler bus though if you fancy a trip into Keswick. Walk back over the fells or catch it back.

We have been staying at the Bridge hotel over a number of years. Sometimes we have stayed in the hotel othertimes in the self catering apartments. In each case the service and cleanliness has been superb. All members of staff have are exemplary, cheerful, friendly and above all helpful. In Particular Ray and Eden .I must mention the good food accompanied by brilliant beers and ales all at very reasonable prices.

We can't rate the Bridge Hotel Ltd highly enough. Whether you stay in the hotel or the apartments it's a wonderful experience. We have met many guests who, like us keep returning to this beautiful place. The staff, especially Ray on reception, who is an absolute ambassador for the Bridge, are so kind, friendly and superb at the their job. The Bridge state they are dog friendly and they really are. We will be returning many times in the future and look forward to those times.

4.5 Buttermere Lake walk is exquisite, even if it rains, there are two waterfalls to see on the way round, Scale Force and Sour Milk Gill Force both impressive expecially after rain fall. There is an ice cream van that sells hot food/drinks too half way round the Buttermere Lake Walk, at Gatesgarth Farm. But the food and drink is excellent at the Bridge. All the way around Buttermere are the most amazing fells to climb, the easiest being Rannerdale, you can commence this opposite the Bridge making your way up through the Bluebell woods. We've seen red squirrels, plenty of different birds, Highland cattle and otters in the streams and river that runs past the Bridge.
