We enjoyed our stay very much in one of the one bedroom apartments. Only points to make. Double bed is up to the wall at one side so needed to slide to the bottom in the night so as not to disturb my partner. When we go again we would have twin beds to resolve this situation. Excellent evening meal Also breakfast before leaving. A grab handle in the bath/shower would be an advantage. Difficult to get in and out for some people. I enjoyed a soak in the bath after my hard walks.

Fantastic for walking, catching the local buses 77 and 77a to Keswick then further afield. No need to use the car. Boat trios on the lakes Derwent water and Ullswater being the ones we did.

Excellent location in the most beautiful place in the Lake District. Family run luxury hotel with welcoming and friendly service, cosy pub and tasty food and drinks. Nothing too much trouble and everyone very helpful.

Definitely lots of walks! Both at lakeside level and in the peaks surrounding the Buttermere valley. Also recommend the circular bus ride to Keswick and if possible break the journey at Seatoller with the open top double decker. The Honister slate mine has lots to see. We love the Pencil Museum and Puzzling Place in Keswick especially with children. The Helena Thompson museum in Workington was really interesting. Merienda’s restaurant and Bryson’s cafe in Keswick are good too. The Keswick Boot shop is also an excellent independent seller of high quality walking boots. The ice cream kiosk at Gatesgarth farm at the bottom of the Honister pass does delicious ice creams.

For a change I decided to book an apartment, rather than a room in the hotel. As the weather forecast was varied, it was a good choice. I could not fault the accommodation - clean and well equipped. The hotel service was, as always, perfect with the addition of the restaurant being open on Friday for a different dining experience. The food and service was fantastic. I'll be back soon!
