Great hostel, staff very friendly and gave good recommendations for food / activities to do in the surrounding area. Dorm room was nice - slightly warm due to uncharacteristically hot weather.

My stay in Ballater Hostel couldn't have been better. I particularly like the ethos of eco friendly and quality throughout.

Really welcoming. I booked a room just for me though it was for up to four. Nevertheless, really good value for the single traveller. Was quiet when I was there so restful experience. Well equipped kitchen and the extras for common use such as foil and cling film appreciated as a hillwalker.

The hostel is in a great location for the bar, restaurant and carry out offerings in Ballater. Literally a few minutes walk away. For people driving it’s worth mentioning that given the narrow, residential streets right next to the hostel, it might be hard to park really close to it. However there is (limited) on street parking next to a hedge on Monaltrie Rd that is near by - could be useful to know if relying on satnav. However there are other options not far away too.
