Staff very very friendly. Books guides and maps to prepare walls and hikes. Nice kitchen and lounge. My prefered hostel for the welcoming on seven this Spring.

Loch Muick and Lochnagar. If you have a car, so many departure for walls in all directions. A coop in the town and repair bike

we went up Creag Choinnich in braemar then came to ballater to walk along the dee. highly recommend, but also talk to staff as they know a lot about the routes you can take
