Once again we enjoyed The Smithy along with Ann & Colins hospitality, if you have tried the best now try the very best.

Tips for other travellers

Ann booked meals for us at The Blacksmiths @ Lastingham and Graze on the Green in Rosedale. Both venues provided excellent value and service. We also visited The Shepherds Hall @ Lealholm and this venue is a beautiful place for a coffee or lunch.

Ann and Colin are lovely, excellent to talk to, Full Yorkshire Breakfast is brilliant, Ann's Cottage (and The Old Smithy) are lovely to stay in for a chilled out holiday. Been in both Ann's Cottage and The Old Smithy on more than one occasion, and will be back for more when we can. it is nice to meet normal welcoming folk and know every word is meant, even with the trials and tribulations of my hubbie!!!

A wonderful Easter break staying in the Old Smithy in our favourite part of North Yorkshire. A lovely warm welcome as always from Ann and Colin and spoilt for choice with Ann’s delicious breakfasts. We are so lucky to have found such a lovely place and be thoroughly spoilt by Ann and Colin during our stay here. . Looking forward to seeing you again soon - this time in Ann’s Cottage which is just as lovely. Love Phil & Bren

Always a pleasure to visit Ann's Cottage, Ann and Colin are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Always greeted with a genuine warm welcome. Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean cottages, everything you need for a chilled hideaway, relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast outstanding and plenty of it and a great choice if a full English breakfast is too much. Highly recommend a visit. We are looking forward to seeing Ann and Colin adain. A gem of a place, not too be missed.

Tips for other travellers

The Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge is a great place to visit for food an a drink, huge portions, keep you going all day. Warm cosy pub with great atmosphere. The Coach Inn in Rosedale is good and has outdoor seating. Scarborough and Whitby are not too far away as are Pickering and Malton. Helmsley is a good place for a visit with plenty of tea rooms and little shops. Ann's Cottage is great for places to visit that are not too far away. The local area is great for walking and getting out in the fresh air.
