Great welcome from Colin, one of the volunteers. Lovely environmentalist ethos. Set in a pretty little village.

Perfect for walkers on The Pilgrims' Way or The North Downs Way. The pub, The Good Intent, is a must!

We were surprised at how well equipped the kitchen was (cafetière!). There was free tea, coffee, milk which was most welcome. Our warden Nigel was wonderful and made us feel very welcome and gave us tips on places to visit/stay on our walk. It is a barn - no heating - and so it was cold but we filled up the hot water bottles Nigel supplied us with and snug inside the sleeping bags on our bunk bed we were not cold even though it was the end of October. I’m not sure I’d have liked sleeping on the sleeping platform though - it seemed very hard and the white plastic covering was very very cold. There’s one bathroom for the whole barn. The shower (more a wet room really) was wonderfully hot. We were the only people staying at the barn that night.

We were walking the North Downs Way and the barn is perfectly positioned for an overnight stay if you don’t walk to walk all the way from Farnham to Guildford in one day. The Good Intent is a lovely old fashioned village pub a couple of minutes walk away. On the night we went in the real fire was blazing and fairy lights twinkled throughout. It was a Friday night and Halloween and the place was completely packed - barely room to stand, so we didn’t stay long because we don’t like crowds. We’d cooked our own supper at the barn, but it might have been more comfortable for us if we’d reserved a place to eat at the Good Intent and spent the evening there, eating and drinking. We stopped off to look at Limnerslease (Arts & Crafts house built by GF Watts and Mary Watts) which is just a bit further along the North Downs Way and we had coffee at the Watts Gallery cafe .

Great stay at the bunkhouse. The wardens David and Nigel were warm and welcoming, and the bunkhouse was exactly what we needed. Thank you so much for providing this service.
