This is one of the very best hostels, anywhere! Time after time, we have stayed at the hostel. It has been terrific for location, both in the town and close to the Lake District. Ben and team have been the most supportive of hosts, and we look forward to every time we come here. Undoubtedly, Wayfarers Independent Hostel is the place to stay for adventure holidays, cycle trips of field studies in the Lake District.

The hostel is located 3 minutes walk from the main street in Penrith. There is a fabulous local cinema that shows first run movies and art house classics. There are many restaurants and pubs, quite fantastic for a small northern town. Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Turkish, and classic English cuisine is readily available. The Fell Bar is the local craft ale pub, and there is a full range of coffee shops and cafes. Shopping includes all the essentials, plus several specialty outdoor and cycle stores, and there is a leisure centre with pool for exercise, relaxation and wet weather alternative days out. Definitely Penrith has it all for a short or long stay!
