As always The Hayloft is our perfect home from home where we have everything we need to have a relaxing holiday whilst visiting family. Laura and family always make us feel very welcome and the dogs love the walks around the area.

The Hayloft is lovely, comfortable, stylish, well-appointed and peaceful. Laura and her family are very friendly, helpful and generous hosts. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Hayloft is in a great location for local riverside walks. It’s also close to Barnard Castle which has lovely walks. Rise bakery and cafe does great sourdough loaves and cakes. Our favourite tearoom was Kaylees in Middleton in Teesdale. Richmond is a 30 minute drive from the Hayloft and has lovely walks. The Station in Richmond has a great micro brewery, ice cream parlour and a lovely bakery- more good sourdough and cakes. The walk to Highforce is beautiful - the tearoom at the Bowlees visiting centre has great scones. We also loved the gardens at Eggleston Hall. If you have a car there is absolutely loads to see and do from the Hayloft.

Be sure to get off the main road and onto the local roads through the Yorkshire Dales. A day trip to the Lake District is also very worthwhile. For motorcyclists who really want to take on a challenge, try the Hardknott Pass with a gradient of 33 percent in some parts.
