Everything as expected with our stay. Only a couple of minor observations, stairs steep at our chosen accommodation - would not suit everyone - and no obvious instructions for the dual cooker / microwave which caused a few issues as we were self catering. We could have been more comfortable with a footstool in the lounge which we mentioned to the owner. Very comfortable else. Parking outside the accommodations, very easy. Netflix on tv and issues with wifi quickly addressed by owner.

Location is close to a town but road is busy and no footpath exists for a quarter of a mile or so. If you have a car everything easily reachable.

We met Krys who was extremely welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is fantastic and comfortable with excellent facilities. If you’ve watched Chateau DIY, it does not show the wonderful charm and careful renovations that have taken place. The property grounds have a very tranquil feel enabling you to relax completely and use the beautiful pool area. We were really sorry not to have met Tim who was busy taking other guests on days out, however, we will be going back as we were only there for 3 nights and there was so much more we would have liked to explore.

It was so useful to have all the basic cooking ingredients like salt/pepper, oil, tea and much more available on arrival. Maybe something to add to the website for other guests to know in advance. We cooked on two of the evenings whilst there and the kitchen was extremely well stocked with practically everything you might need to use and having a dishwasher was so useful. From what we saw of Le Bugue it was a lovely town and useful to have a large supermarket within a five minute drive. Tim and Krys provide a great folder with useful information within from emergency numbers, to local shops, sights to see and some very fine restaurants.

Tim & Krys Birch have turned an abandoned piece of property and facilities into the most wonderful place to spend a day or many days enjoying Le Bugue and all the surrounding Dordogne region. Their personal attention and care will make you feel at home. Their “ apartments “ have well equipped kitckens, dining and living room and spacious bedroom and bath. The Cottage was my favorite. Amenities include pool, tennis court and manicured grounds to stroll, picnic, sit in swinging chairs and read a book. Martin Walker’s, Bruno series would be my favorite ,as Le Bugue is considered to be the fictitious St. Denis!! After my stay close to a week, I consider Tim and Krys friends who I want very much to visit again.

Domaine de La Barde is close enough to walk into Le Bugue to shop, and do not miss Tuesday Market Day. Easy drive to wine shop, grocery store, petrol fill up stations. Surrounding locations for boating, hiking, visiting vineyards and wine tours. Many choices of local restaurants, coffee shops. Strolling along the river and town streets. Tim and Krys can provide lots of recommendations.
