A stunning location and friendly welcome. Very cosy and clean pod, which suited our family (dog included!) very well.

Don't miss the dramatic beach a short walk away, and the sea stacks a short drive away. Overall, an excellent home base for seeing the island.

Forsnabhal for amazing views; Valtos Reef beach; food at SEACroft & Edge Cafe in Aird Uig; Uig community cafe & museum; Bosta beach and the iron age house on Great Bernera and so much more..we were slightly too late in the year maybe, so missed out on a sea trip and ferry to Uist due to the weather.

Absolutely loved our stay at Mangersta. The wind was gale force and the rain came sideways but we were safe and cozy in our pod 😀 Everything we could need was supplied, from washing up liquid to ground coffee. Elsie and Derek were excellent at replying to questions and you get to experience the wilds of Uig with the comfort and convenience of the local shop and cafe. An ideal place to detach and unwind. Definitely recommend 👌

Tips for other travellers

The Uig community store has 24hr fuel, a fantastic range of food and gifts, a post office and a laundry. The Uig community cafe next to the school does fabulous soup and cake. The Dùsgadh Baile na Cille art gallery nearby is worth checking our for current exhibitions. The Uig Sands restaurant is definitely worth reserving a table before you arrive, worth every penny. Beaches - Mangersta (of course) Mealasta and Reef beaches all fabulous in sun or rain 🥰

The beach and cliffs are nearby and great to explore. The local shop and community cafe and museum are nearby. WiFi is pretty much non existent

(The WiFi is limited in the red hut so it’s the one to choose for a digital detox - it’s fine for checking messages or listening to music but not suitable for remote working) All the best Elsie and Derek
