Fabulous place for the coast to coast - especially a 2 or 4 day as it’s in the perfect position.

Hi, I don't suppose you found a very short black tent pole near or underneath the far picnic table outside? I left one there. It's only around 4 -5 inches long (I think). It would probably be difficult to see in the grass. I'd be really grateful if you could have a little check to see if it's still there. Thanks Kate

Tips for other travellers

A really good basic bunkhouse with everything you need. Use of kitchen, settees and table plus shower. Perfect for Pennine Way to shorten the long Dufton to Alston section. I then enjoyed breakfast in Alston. I enjoyed my stay.

There was no bedding when we arrived but a guy in the ‘pub’ was really helpful and sorted us out. The next morning a chap came and apologised.

Tips for other travellers

Ninebanks YHA is an excellent place to stay too. And the Valley Spice curry house & take-away, just outside Allendale Town was amazing. Cumberland pub in Alston serves a great pint.
