We had a wonderful week on Lewis/Harris and the cottage was convenient from the late evening Stornoway ferry. The facilities for self-catering were excellent, with everything we needed and more. The cottage exceeded our expectations in terms of its size, comfort, etc. It is beautifully decorated and felt like a real treat to stay there! Thank you.

Tips for other travellers

As we arrived towards the end of the season, we did find it a little difficult to find places to eat out in the evening and would advise travellers to book in advance. We loved learning about the history of the island and people (the museum attached to Lews Castle was very interesting and moving). As a hobby photographer, I was spoilt for choice with the varied landscape and stunning beaches! So much to see and do, we shall be returning!

Had a lovely stay at the cottage (6 night stay). Everything and more there that you need. All quality items and furnishings. Bed is super comfy (I’ve got a Tempur mattress at home but the mattress in the cottage excelled even that!). I can’t recommend the cottage highly enough and the owner lovely, and very helpful. I look forward to returning.

I found it to be an excellent location for travelling around both Lewis and Harris. It allowed me to see every inch of the isles.

Helen is a very welcoming owner and was there when we arrived. We found a delicious selection of local biscuits in the well equipped kitchen. The cottage is very comfortable and well decorated. Nothing is missing to make your stay a pleasant one. It is honestly one of the best places we have stayed in 14 trips to Scotland.

There is information in the cottage about places to visit but it's difficult to give advice as it's beautiful everywhere on the island.

The cottage is ideally situated just south of Stornaway giving easy access to Lewis and Harris. It was beautifully presented, is well furnished with a full range of modern appliances and is warm and cosy when weather conditions can be adverse. Very highly recommended.

We enjoyed eating out at Uig Sands restaurant anf the many restaurants in Stornaway, visited Lewis Castle and the extensive gardens and the many excellent beached on the islands.
