Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Laura's Cottage. It is luxurious, well equipped, spotlessly clean and in the most beautiful location imaginable. The bed is wonderfully comfortable and there's a lovely en suite shower room to each bedroom. We sat out on the patio and listened to the larks over the nearby pasture and it was bliss. We had such a kind and generous welcome from Ann and Mike, I'm not sure we've ever felt so welcome anywhere. We are very much looking forward to making a return visit.

Tips for other travellers
Winding your way round the country and moorland roads above the village is highly recommended, the countryside is beautiful. The walled garden in Helmsley, The Ryedale Folk Museum and Scampston Hall Gardens down near Malton are all good enough to visit more than once if you were inclined but there's lots to do in the whole area. We enjoyed perfect fish and chips in Pickering; Cedar Barn Farm shop and the Blacksmiths Arms in Lastingham were highlights but we found good food in many places.

Our third visit. Very lucky with wonderful weather this week but we always enjoy our stay anyway. Very comfortable and relaxing with plenty of new places to explore and old favourites to revisit. Always a great welcome - thank you!

An absolute brilliant place to unwind with excellent self catering facilities. Host Ann welcomed us with goodies for our first day and help was on hand if needed. Comfy bed and quietness helped us to rest and relax. We are regular visitors to Pickering and always use Laura's Cottage for our stay.

Pickering is a lively town 3 miles away where small shops provide all necessities as well as larger stores. Potters Hill for fish and chips, Cedar Barn Farm for good quality meals and farm produce.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Laura's Cottage which we found both exceptionally comfortable and clean. The furnishings were of a very high quality and we wanted for nothing. On arrival we were met by our very friendly host, Ann, who had kindly left us wine, chocolates, crisps, milk, biscuits and a plate of the most delicious home baked cakes.
