Upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the cathedral. Lovely walled garden - great in Summer. Efficient heating for a large room in an old building. Room was very plain - a few pictures would have been nice, likewise a mini fridge would be handy. But I would definitely stay again for the position, view and general ambience of this building.

Tips for other travellers

The keypad to get into the building is in darkness at night, though the front door is well lit - so have the torch on your phone handy to see the numbers. You can request to leave your bags in the hall and your entry code can be timed earlier than the one for your room. There is a public loo on the ground floor too - if you need this.

We had a wonderful stay at 4 Canon Lane. Our room was warm, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The room had a superb view of the Cathedral and it was spacious and inviting. It was amazing to stay in a place with such a lot of history and character. Communications prior to our stay were easy and friendly and we received clear instructions about directions and access. We would stay here again without hesitation. Many thanks to Maria and Charlotte.

We thoroughly recommend 4 Canon Lane. If you want a clean, warm, comfortable place to stay in the very centre of Chichester this is the ideal place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay. Everything worked really well. The access system, using a single code for the building and the room instead of bothering with keys, is excellent. The only minor suggestion we might make is that the numbers of the parking bays (painted in blue) could perhaps be in white or yellow as they are not very visible at present, especially if you arrive in the dark, and a couple of the numbers have almost completely worn off or faded.

Tips for other travellers

The Cathedral cafe, open from 9am, is very convenient and pleasant, and residents get a 10% discount! The Novium museum is excellent, as was the guided city walk which starts at the museum. The Tuesday lunchtime concert at the Cathedral was a surprise bonus, and the Bishop's Palace Gardens are a real delight. We also recommend walking the city walls, three quarters of which still exist.
