This was our 3rd stay at the Lansbury. Lovely owners, very clean and a great breakfast. The rooms are very well decorated and the beds are so comfy we nearly missed breakfast. I would recommend a stay here.

Plenty of pubs. We love the middle earth tavern with log burning fire, and has always been table service. The Angel at the harbour is a sun trap in the summer.

Gareth and Alison are the best hosts. The breakfast is amazing and everything is so well organised. It is like home from home. Warm cosy and so so clean. I would totally recommend The Lansbury for your stay in whitby.

We have been to the Lansbury for quite a few years now for the New Year, so going back repeatedly really says it all. The Lansbury is situated in an excellent position, very close to the Whale bones, and is only a 5 minutes walk to the restaurants, beach and centre of Whitby. Alison & Gareth are wonderful hosts, they are very friendly and make you feel like one of the family. The rooms are to a very high standard and are extremely clean. The breakfast is excellent, hats off to the chef, and you can choose exactly what you want. I would highly recommend the Lansbury, you will not be disappointed.

Restaurants we like are:- The Fisherman’s Wife (excellent fish & chips), The Four Seasons (beautiful Turkish food) and the Casa Nostra (wonderful Italian food), but there is also lots of other nice restaurants to suit everyone needs. Things to see and do:- Obviously the Abbey is a must. You can go on a ghost walk, which is very popular. The Falling Foss Tea Gardens is about 6 miles from Whitby, but only open from April to October, but if you are visiting in summer it’s a lovely walk with a waterfall. You can walk along the beach to Sandsend, and Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes are also lovely places to visit. You can take the steam train to Pickering & Gothland (where Heartbeat was filmed). There is plenty to see and do in and around Whitby. An excellent time will be had.
