I loved staying here - I turned up 2 hours before check up time, but fortunately Richard was there to answer the door and I received a warm welcome. I was very glad to have a room with a bed for a nap after my early start and long walk up through the south of Dartmoor. My room was lovely, with a lovely view out front and over some of the moor. A yummy breakfast the next morning set up me up for the day and the rest of my hike up north to the nother side of the moor

For me Princetown was the perfect place to stop for the night on a 2 day hike across Dartmoor from Ivybridge in the very south to the very north in Okehampton and Duchy House was the perfect place for me to stay for that night in Princetown. I also received a warm welcome in the Prince Of Wales pub about 100m up the road for a much needed evening meal I've been coming to Dartmoor all my life and this ranks highly among my experiences there.
