Fabulous relaxing stay due to both of you being so attentive and relaxed in your attitude to your guests. Cleanliness is prime in our needs and we dont know where you keep your dust but we found none! Everywhere was spotless. Wonderful breakfasts What more could we need? Thank you both and we will be back!

We used the Police House cafe and it was super, the food is a good price and the daily roast dinner is delicious

This is our 6th visit to The Duchy over the years and it never fails to impress… Richard and Caroline are friendly,helpful hosts and have done everything to make this a beautiful, homely, comfortable, exceptionally high standard place to stay.. Breakfast is superb with great choices using locally sourced produce .

Duchy House is perfectly located to explore Dartmoor with easy access to Tavistock as well as the delights the Moor has to offer. Parking behind Duchy House is convenient. Within walking distance, there are two pubs, a village shop with post office and cafes available in Princetown also an interesting visitors centre…

Richard and Caroline were great (and forgiving - I accidentally overflowed a sink) hosts. The Duchy is a well appointed and well kept bed and breakfast in the heart of Dartmoor, with great breakfasts to order and Caroline’s homemade bread. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it highly.

Tips for other travellers

I would recommend the local pubs - the Plume of Feathers and the Prince of Wales - both with more of local rather than touristy feel.

Make use of the bus 98 good to take a ride then walk back to princetown.
