We had a brilliant week in Scotland and couldn’t recommend this place more highly. The house was absolutely stunning – beautifully presented, well equipped, and set amongst some truly spectacular scenery which made the whole stay feel very special. The host pre-information was extremely helpful, with clear instructions and lots of great recommendations for things to see and do nearby. Everything went smoothly from beginning to end, and we honestly wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

Drive the scenic road over the mountains and take the ferry to Isle of Bute. A charming destination.

We had a fantastic weekend at Old Kilmun House, a family group of 10 adults and 6 children. The house was so comfortable and we all felt really at home. Every eventuality was covered from flipflops for going to the hot tub, spare wellies and baby and toddler toys and a amazingly well equipped kitchen. The games room with a pool table and cosy TV/film room was a big hit as were the football goals on the lawn. Even though we didn't use them I was impressed to see three sets of golf clubs with labels from the local golf course. The hot tub and sauna were great for chilling after an energetic walk through the next-door arboretum. We appreciated nice touches like the dining room table being left set with cutlery and glasses, perfect for our first night meal. The location overlooking the loch and the ancient Kilmun Churchyard is magical. Thoroughly recommend Old Kilmun House for family get-togethers.

Do visit the arboretum. It's an energetic walk, mostly uphill, but we managed it even with two baby buggies. Wonderful trees and fabulous views of the loch.

Book your ferry in advance for a cheaper crossing. Lorne Pub and restaurant is good for eating out.
