This is the second time we've stayed in Devon Cottage. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. We would certainly stay there again.

Tips for other travellers

Gunnerside is ideally situated for walking in Swaledale. The Kings Arms pub is just a few hundred yards away, and serves excellent meals and real ales.

We really loved the cottage; it had everything we needed. We like using a local company if we can so I am sure we will use Cat Hole cottages again.

Spacious cottage in centre of the village in the middle of the dale; great location and lovely view from the bedroom. Pub is just across the road and we had a lovely supper there. Fabulous walks all around.

Directions for finding key not good. No key safe but keys for several cottages in cupboard in box. We would have phoned from our mobile but no phone signal!

Local pubs closed Mons & Tues in June. Farmers Arms, Muker and Punch Bowl, Low Row both excellent.

Glad you had a good holiday. I'm afraid, however, you didn't read either the letter of confirmation or the directions, as both contain the information that there is, in fact, a keysafe, along with the code for it. The King's Head, Farmer's Arms and Punch Bowl all closed on Mondays and Tuesdays all year round.

Tips for other travellers

Stock up well before arrival as no shop in the village and limited options in Reeth. Bring wellies so you can ford the river on short local walks.
