The Haven is a very warm, welcoming and spacious cottage. Perfect for a relaxing walking holiday. Cat Hole Cottages are extremely helpful and communication was excellent.

We had a 4 night stay at The Haven with our dogs. It is ideal for dogs, with an enclosed space at the front of the property to dry them off and traditional flagstone floor throughout the ground floor. The kitchen was fully equipped and there is a smart TV if you want a lazy day. We found the double bed very comfortable. The only minus is the bathroom where the extractor fan isn't effective and there is no natural ventilation. We really struggled getting towels dry between use and I think the addition an electric towel rail would be useful (and easier to clean). Communication around the booking was excellent and self check-in appreciated to save us having to arrive at a specific time to collect keys.

Great location if you like to walk, with endless footpath around the village. The local pub is welcoming for a drink, but we visited in November so they weren't doing hot food just a sandwich menu at weekends. Similarly the closest shop in Muker is only open for 2 hours Fri/Sat/Sun in quiet season, and stock is low for perishable items because of that. Best option for shopping is to head to Reeth. Knowing the area, we had brought pretty much everything we needed with us. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the CB Inn (a walkable 6 miles over the moor, hubby came in car to save me walking back again 😄) In summary, it's a cosy cottage in a lovely area but out of main 'season' you have to self-cater unless you want to drive out for meals.

Very clean and comfortable cottage. Felt cosy also in an ideal position. Everything was as said in the emails regarding directions to the cottage and information regarding the area. Will be back

This was our 2nd stay and we loved it just as much as the 1st . Hopefully we'll be back next year. The lovely Haven cottage is a mixture of traditional and modern and the village of Gunnerside is very picturesque and peaceful.

Fill your car up with fuel before u come and bring plenty of groceries as shops and petrol stations are few and far between . The pub in the village The Kings Head does great food but book in advance as it can get busy and they do run out of things on the menu....
