Beautiful old converted house, very quiet tranquil setting. We loved it. There were 8 of us with children and they enjoyed the space inside and outside. Very comfortable, quality bedding, great showers. Minor issue with hot water that was quickly resolved. Short, off road walk into Muker.

Tips for other travellers

Due to staffing issues the local pub and cafe/small shop in Muker had reduced opening times and more days closed. Pub also in Gunnerside. Small but well stocked Spar supermarket in Hawes, basic groceries in Reeth which has a fantastic bakery and an ice cream shop. Punch bowl at Low Row a good ‘gastropub’ but need to book.

Our stay (a couple with a 10-year old child and two single friends) in The Rash was truly memorable.Breathtaking views all round, an a lovely and spacious refurbished farmhouse with room for everyone to relax, read and get together. The weather happened to be fine, so we spent much time outdoors - but even with a week of rain we would have been just fine.

Tips for other travellers

Apart from local walks starting from The Rash and from Muker, we liked our visit to Hawes, driving over the Buttertubs Pass, and the circular walk around Hawes. We enjoyed a pub lunch at Hardraw Force, but mostly cooked at home - we like cooking, and the kitchen in The Rash was just great for some homely creativity.
