We loved the location - peaceful and in the midst of beautiful scenery. We enjoyed strolling along the (narrow!) country roads in Mosedale and Mungrisdale. About 15 min from the A66, the B&B is a good base for visiting the northern Lakes/Cumbria. Our room (Farmhouse) was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the fridge and the homemade cake waiting for us! Breakfast came in a hamper, which is a style we like. We enjoyed JoAnne's homemade bread, and it was fitting to have boiled eggs sourced from the farmhouse hens! We absolutely loved that the freezer had cartons of Lake District ice-cream (honesty box). Perfect in the hot weather we experienced. JoAnne also has a vending machine where you can purchase bottled water, fruit and biscuits. JoAnne was friendly and responsive to any query, and she provided lots of info about nearby attractions.

We had a very nice evening meal at the Mill Inn, Mungrisdale, which IS open (June 26), despite what social media sites say. The Oddfellows Inn at Caldbeck had great food - thoroughly recommend. The Castle Inn (on A591) was a good place to stop for a drink - they have a big restaurant, but we didn't try it. The small Keswick Kitchen (in Keswick) was great for coffee and home-baking. The tea-room in Hutton-in-the-Forest is nice, although you need to check opening times. We enjoyed visiting their garden too, although the entrance fee is a bit steep. In all of the eating places we went to, staff were really friendly and welcoming. Keswick is great for shopping, especially if you're looking for outdoor gear. Caldbeck was lovely to stroll round, and we enjoyed looking round St Kentigern's church (peaceful and cool on a hot day!).

Lovely place to stay and very convenient for Blencathra via Sharp Edge - only 10 mins from scales car park by car (you could probably walk it if you wanted to extend your walk). 20 mins from keswick allowing us to climb Skiddaw from the ample parking in Keswick. Very clean and roomy. Breakfast hamper was lovely. Nobody bothered you which was nice. Loved feeding the chickens. The Mill Inn was good for dinner.

Enjoyed one night stop off on way to Scotland. Great location, genuine friendly welcome and very comfy bed (partner wanted to leave with it). Would consider longer stay next time.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, warm, convenient (microwave for meals, balcony for bird watching or relaxing, views to beautiful landscape and farm animals, within a few minutes drive of busy but nice pubs, 20 drive from Ullswater and Keswick, you can set off to some paths on foot straight from the accommodation). We loved seeing the animals. The literature with tips, walks, and the farming story where an unexpected plus too. Thanks!

Loved the walk to the nearby tar up the mountain. Cut down on going round the tar due to very strong winds. Saw a rainbow from the top while doing the walk. Read the comments on the book from others guests early on (not when you leave), for recommendations on walks, etc.
