Everything you would expect from a hostel with some little added touches. Marie was a lovely host to us and our dog and made sure she showed us where everything was as well as giving us a quick guide to the local area. There was milk, teabags and coffee available, which for me, are essential. The kitchen was immaculate and there was the added bonus of towels in our rooms. It was peaceful and we had a good night sleep...what more could we ask for!

Tips for other travellers
It was a quick stopover for us but we visited local landmarks (Statue and war memorial), had a walk down the river, all of which Marie will tell you about. Mirage fish and chip restaurant is a must (they also do an amazing fish platter). If you want to eat there, book in advance as it gets very busy. If you want a fish platter be sure to book that in advance also.

We had a lovely stay. The hostel is very clean and friendly, with excellent facilities. Marie couldn’t have been more helpful and was kind enough to spend a lot of what would otherwise have been her own free time chatting with us and the other guests.

Tips for other travellers
The Big Burn walk in Golspie was much more interesting the name suggests and after a night’s rain the volume of water in the burn (more like a river) and its waterfalls was astonishing. Loch Fleet is also recommended for its bird life. We saw a pair of sea eagles there.
