This has been our 2nd stay at the Boathouse. My partner and I have been visiting Rothesay at least once a year for many years and we usually change where we stay each but this year we enjoyed staying at the Boathouse last year that we decided to stay there again. From now on we will always stay at the Boathouse. Our suite was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. It contains everything you could want. Sara makes you very welcome and many guest return regularly. I have no hesitation in recommending the Boathouse to my family and friends.

Tips for other travellers

Although there has been a few places closed down. There is always somewhere new opening. There are plenty of places to enjoy lunch and dinner, such as the Post Office in Port Bannatyne, Ambience, Kates Place (Kettledrum), the cafe at Ettrick Bay(home baking yummy), Rumours, Kingarth Hotel, the Jam Jar,Bute Yard and Mount Stuart cafe. A visit to Mount Stuart House and gardens is a must. Some other places you must see is the Castle, the Anchor Bar in Port Bannatyne for their Thursday night jam session. A visit to Scalpsie Bay where you might be lucky and see some seals and a visit to Ettrick Bay and Kilchattan Bay

Try the Caledonia Bistro and the Kingarth Hotel for lovely food

Everything was great, we absolutely loved our stay there! And the view! You can just spend hours looking outside. We’d love to come back soon.

Everything is literally nearby within walking distance - cafes, shops, restaurants, and the ferry terminal also. Amazing location!
