Antoinette is lovely and personable, and was flexible with our check in. We will definitely want to stay with her again! Cosy and clean room. Lovely, nutritious vegetarian breakfast fry (veg, mushrooms, egg, beautiful freshly chopped fruit bowl, yogurt, bread etc). Avebury area and the henges are magical, lovely pub and great little shops

The Avebury village centre and the main henge circles are a nice walk of about 15 mins, and you can see the Adam and Eve stones on the way.

We were in a bind for a place to stay after prior reservations at a nearby Airbnb got mixed up. Antonette opened her home to us even though her B&B was closed for the season. That takes a special person, and we are ever so grateful to her. Her home was cozy, with the most comfortable beds! The tea was hot, and the house dog, a spaniel I believe, was sheer delight. Overall the experience was wonderful. She even gave us local tips, which is one of the best reasons for staying at a traditional B&B, imho.

There are always trade-offs with traditional B&Bs. Antionette’s place may be smaller, more intimate, with less privacy than renting an entire home to oneself, but that’s the charm of it: meeting new friends, getting local tips, exchanging culture. One point bears repeating, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced!

In a deracinated age we walked to Avebury to refresh our connection to the land. No staying at the inn, now operated by a chain, with young staff from everywhere but here. The village itself an encampment of retired folk, its core now a National Trust museum. But in Avebury Trusloe we were welcomed handsomely by someone with a deep connection to the land, who honoured us as pilgrims.
