We would recommend '6 Poor Folk' for food, drink, atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Lovely town with amazing views from castle grounds of the viaduct, and great walks along the river.

Castle was literally around the corner , the river was accessible by either steps on left at the bottom of the hill or if you prefer , the other option Is to walk across the station and walk straight down the lane turn left and left again , a pleasant flat walk. The views from the castle were brilliant. The bus station is just a 3/4 minute walk away by Sainsbury’s . Only basic pub food in area. But a lovely place to stay.

Nice extra touched like fresh milk and bottled water, tissues and cotton buds in the bathroom. The breakfast was one of the best we've ever had and Karen was friendly but not in our faces. We had a lovely time.

We dined at Zolsha the Indian restaurant which is on the high street and it was very good. Definitely go up to the castle for the views. You don't have to pay as the grounds are a public park. And the riverside is good for walks and boating. Bring comfortable shoes - Knaresborough is very hilly!
