There is a small honesty shop but bring your food etc to get started as the closest store (Lidl) is in Pickering a drive away. Local pubs are not within walking distance and the road down has no path.

I've lost count of the number of times I've stayed at Rocklands over the years. This time we stayed in Bilsdale Lodge - a comfortable 2 bedroom lodge with a beautiful uninterrupted view across the countryside. Great private Jacuzzi with the same great view! People often ask me "if I'm going away?", and when I tell them Rocklands Lodges near Pickering they reply by saying: "oo, that's not a million miles away, is it!" BUT IT IS! The short 40 minute drive from York takes me to a far away place, a different time, and easily a million miles from the hurly-burly of 21st century life! And to get there I DON'T need a passport, or a visa, or airport parking. I avoid security queues, or checking in three hours early, or delayed flights. Stress-free and bliss!

Rocklands Lodges is quiet and peaceful. A great place to rest, and unwind. But it's a handy base for some great trips in the area. Malton, Pickering and the district offer some great restaurant food, so you don't need to cook in your lodge if you don't want to. Nearby (Pickering) check out Cedar Barnes - a "farm shop" (brilliant) but also a GREAT place for breakfast or lunch. Pickering is also home to the North York Moors Railway. Vintage steam, and featured in Harry Potter and Mission - Impossible. This Railway takes you to Whitby. A real, old seaside resort - home to James Cook and Dracula etc. On another day, drive to nearby Scarborough. One of the world's first seaside resorts! On the drive to Wrelton (where Rocklands is) you'll see a petrol station, with a SPAR supermarket attached. It's a great, convenient store! Recommended!
