The Pheasant's Roost is absolutely beautiful...the shepherd's hut is so cosy and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The hot tub and all other outdoor facilities were perfect, we literally couldn't fault anything. The view and sunset over the field was stunning and we had daily entertainment from the huge hares playing in the field. Pauline was a really attentive host and very helpful before our visit to address some needs we had for our stay. She also kindly allowed us a slightly later check out which was very much appreciated. We met Christine on leaving who came to clean the hut and had a good giggle with her. We can't recommend the accommodation highly enough or the friendliness of the owner/staff. We asked for the hot tub to be ready on arrival and everything was sorted! Washing machine, games, maps etc are all available too, so it has everything you need for a longer stay. There's a willow privacy screen so whilst the cottage is next door, we didn't feel encroached. The weather was very cold and windy but the hut was warm and cosy. There's a paddock area for kids and dogs and even a portable fence for safety to contain them - they Wally have thought of everything. It's a perfect location to explore but you can easily just stay and relax, spending lazy days at the hut. It feels close enough to civilisation for shopping/eating out but remote enough to feel like you're escaping everyday life. There's no light pollution and on a clear night, you can star gaze from the hot tub. Magical!
