By the Wye

Loved this place. Accommodation is very well thought out and comfortable. It’s a lovely quiet spot, apart from the bird song. Friendly welcome. Steve and Dawn are smashing hosts.

Excellent and spacious accommodation for a tree house! Welcoming, friendly and attentive hosts. Well equipped kitchen. Great deck for enjoying outdoors.

Where to start with the loveliness of By the Wye?! The first day our kids asked if they could watch TV… by the second day they’d forgotten about the existence of screens and just wanted to paddle in the river, play in the woods and watch the birds from the deck (there was a blue tit family living in the nesting box opposite, two friendly robins who actually flew into the tent a couple of times and we even saw a kingfisher and heard a woodpecker, as well as hundreds of blackbirds, wrens, pigeons and more). And stay up late to watch the bats! We stayed in Holly which was perfect – beds comfier than our own at home (and the kids LOVED the bunk bed), warm showers both inside and out, gorgeous shower gel and shampoo, a kitchen with everything you could need, as well as the fire pit. We brought so many things with us that we didn’t need as the tent was so well equipped; I think we could have left half of what we brought at home! We stayed during a warm spell so didn’t need to use the log burner at all, the tent was a perfect temperature all night (and shady and cool during the day). The location is just astonishing – having a perfect bit of river to paddle in practically on the doorstep, a wonderful cafe a few minutes’ walk down the path and the centre of beautiful Hay on Wye just over the bridge is incredible. And the whole team were so lovely and welcoming. Longing to return already!

Such a warm and friendly welcome and always available throughout our stay. Tha accomodation was absolutley wonderful, everything had been thought about. The most magical location so well located for access to all the fun in Hay.
