What can I say…. Just perfect. I stayed with my two grandsons , we didn’t want to leave. We played, we walked, we talked and just watched, and saw an abundance of wildlife. MAGICAL 🙏 The owners are very friendly, welcoming, at hand if needed.

Hay on wye is a beautiful little town, and within a short walk just over the bridge. My grandsons liked visiting the castle, it is very child friendly, they learned about local history, by watching playing, and listening, after this having the best ice cream in Shepherds parlour, after we visited, what my grandsons call “the rock shop” fossils, minerals and crystals in abundance. The owner had us all wide eyed showing us fossils, shark teeth hundreds of years old, of years old, the owner was very patient, in answering numerous questions asked by my grandsons. There is canoe hire just across the road, which we watched from our balcony, my grandsons telling me, “I want to do that next time we come” So I guess we will be going back. There are lots of places to eat, although the accommodation is well equipped for cooking, local shops if you need food, all within walking distance. This place just suits all ages.

My 8-year old son and I loved our stay with you. The location, right on the river, is unbeatable and it was deeply relaxing to fall asleep each night to the sound of the water. The treehouse itself was spotless and had everything that we needed (and more). We also greatly enjoyed the continental breakfast hamper, especially the warm rolls. Our huge thanks also to Dan for the very informative and fun walk around the woods and the banks of the river on Sunday - my son said that this was the highlight of his trip. We will come back to this very special place.

We enjoyed the Italian food at Three Tuns. We also loved The Cosy Cafe for brunch on the Sunday morning - there was a great, buzzy atmosphere there early in the day. Hay Castle was also a highlight - the restoration/renovation works that they've carried out in recent years are exemplary. We would also definitely use Black Mountain Adventure again for activities - they were very easy to deal with and their online booking system is very straightforward.
