The Birkdale Guest House

Lesley and Colin are the perfect hosts….and although it was only our second stay with them, it was like we had been friends forever. The Birkdale has just a lovely feel as you walk through the front door…..and it smells gorgeous everywhere. Our room (5) was just the best….the bed so comfy, and we loved the chairs and foot stools. You will want for nothing, Lesley and Colin have thought of everything, just in case you have forgotten it. And then there are the lovely little extras…we love Lesley’s home made bikkies. The room is the cleanest you can imagine….Sarah is just amazing…her standards of cleanliness are definitely ‘gold medal plus’ standard. The towels and bed linen are of really high quality, and there are even drawer liners in all the drawers. It is the only place I go where is don’t have to clean something. Attention to detail everywhere is amazing. And breakfast. Well, where to start. Choosing the night before is actually a joy….because the choice is phenomenal, and after your first one, you will really look forward to the morning! I had something different everyday because there are so many lovely things….i just ran out of days. The breakfast table has everything you could possibly want. So nice to have a linen napkin and a different napkin ring everyday!! You have to try a Lesley fruit salad…with her homemade yogurt! Just the best. Colin’s roasted tomatoes are pretty special too…especially with a perfect poached egg!! So often, coffee at breakfast can be rubbish in other places…..not at the Birkdale. Their cafetières are lovely. If you have any special dietary requirements, just ask …. Because nothing is too much trouble. If you want any help about where to go, where to eat etc, Lesley and Colin have lots of information. As does Sarah. We were really sad to leave….and we will be back….wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Very well maintained property lovey decor and amazing breakfast, lots of little touches in the room tea coffee biscuits, small fridge with milk and filtered water which you can top up. Nothing is too much trouble would highly recommend.

Friendly welcome from Colin and Lesley and also Sarah at breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with lots of little treats.

Very warm welcome gave me a birthday card on arrival very thoughtful the owners couldn’t have been more helpful
