This was our third visit to The Birkdale and it really is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Nothing is too much trouble for Lesley and Colin and they even helped my husband celebrate his 70th birthday by decorating our breakfast table and presenting him with a card and Prosecco. Their breakfasts are amazing and all the little touches (including homemade biscuits) in the bedroom really do make it such a lovely, peaceful place to stay with a very comfortable bed and decoration to the highest standard. We have already booked again for next year. All I can say is give The Birkdale a try, you will definitely not be disappointed.

This year we visited The Donkey Sanctuary, where we decided to sponsor a donkey, definitely worth a visit and also spent an hour or so at the model village at Godshill which was interesting seeing the IOW in miniature. There are many restaurants within walking distance of The Birkdale, The Village Inn (which serves very large portions) and Pendleton’s are just two worth a visit. We also had a visit to the local theatre in Shanklin which was most enjoyable.

This was our 3rd stay at the Birkdale and will not be our last. We wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else on the Island. You can not improve perfection. Leslie, Colin and Sarah are a dream team. The breakfast choice and quality is superb. We have never stayed anywhere as clean as the Birkdale, and that’s down to Sarah. Attention to detail is second to none. Every detail has been thought of and carried out. Very well done to all.

The Hideaway restaurant in Shanklin is worth a visit, but check out opening times and days and booking in my opinion is essential. Haven Street Steam railway and a ride is a lovely experience. Weather good a stroll on the beach path from Shanklin to Sandown with a coffee stop on the way is a delight.
