This beautifully renovated building could be a contender for Home Living Magazine. So light, roomy, and aesthetically laid out and designed. All topped off with beautiful grounds, very friendly and accommodating owners (who, I believe, are sadly retiring towards the end of the year).

Local amenities lacking. The pub / restaurant culture appears to have dried up in Lochgilphead. Only the Stag Hotel - dreadfully run down with broken inn sign and grubby exterior was open on the Sat. night I stayed here (and not particularly welcoming though the landlord was charming when he appeared - poor selection of beers and whiskies). Fishing - the Fyne Tackle shop is as good as an angling shop gets. Incredibly helpful proprietor. Worth visiting for the knowledge and browse. Restaurants - nearby Horseshoe Inn is a good bet though menu choice quite limited. Tayvillich Inn (a bit further afield) is the gem here. Food fresh, beautifully laid out, moderated prices, very friendly staff, beautiful views. Book in advance!

Bobby, Jeanette and their family could not have been more friendly and hospitable. The rooms were lovely, fresh and clean. There was a large cosy sitting room downstairs and places to sit and enjoy the garden outside. There was ample parking too. The cooked breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice, including cereals, yoghurts, fruit and fruit juice. It was all very fresh. All in all the B&B is a great place to stay.

There did not appear to be much for visitors in the town. There were a few gift shops, some places to get a snack but not much else. The waterfront is pleasant and well maintained. I would recommend staying here if you were using it as a base to visit the wider area. Whilst there was an Indian Restaurant & a Chinese Takeaway (that we did not try), there is little else to do in the evening.
